Artist Statement

My dance work revolves around a feeling that is rooted in an emotion and character that can be showcased through movement. Creating art that can give an outside point of view, a new outlook, or a realization. Relatability and an interconnection in my dancework are significant. With that, storytelling that includes vulnerability, tension, and transformation is incorporated to bridge the gap between the audience and the movement. My choreography blends a sense of flow, bound, precision, power, gestural, and movement with musicality. I brainstorm movements that best fit with the tone of the music and story. My ultimate goal each time is to create dance work that offers meaning. With each piece I create, it is more than just movement, but a reflection of life itself and the feelings that come with it.

Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy is built around the idea that dance is a powerful way to express ourselves, grow, and connect with others. I want my students to feel supported and empowered to explore their own unique movement styles, tap into their creativity, and build both their skills and confidence. I believe that learning is about progress, not perfection, so I encourage dancers to embrace challenges as part of the process. Whether we’re working on honing our skills or just reflecting on what we’ve experienced in class, I aim to create an environment where dancers feel safe to experiment and take risks. Ultimately, my goal is to help each student find their voice and expression through movement and build a deeper connection with themselves and the dance community.
